What does the future of the newspaper hold?
Well, I’m afraid the answer doesn’t come that easy – and certainly not here. However, last Sunday Anders and I did a presentation on the topic at the Danish International Media Festival – the largest in Scandinavia with more than 1500 participants.
It’s a pretty thankless job to come up with fluffy predictions, which is why we chose to lean on William Gibson’s classic quote about how the “future is already here, it’s just unevenly distributed.” That means we wanted to give the audience some sign posts of a near-future media scenario, when it comes to technology, content, journalistic roles and the editorial process. I won’t get into much detail here, but take a look at our slides and feel free to comment if you want more perspective. Danes can check out Kenneth Milling’s post that does a great job wrapping up the talk.
I found this set of slides to be some of the most interesting reading (and viewing) in a long time. “Content is King” and “media-neutral content creation and elaboration” are both elements of the paradigm shift.
I really like how you tied it all together with showing the life cycle of Journalism 2.0 stories – and kudos for bringing “Heroes” up front.
Excellent work!

I’ve also had the pleasure of being involved in different innovation projects around electronic paper. Both in the media industry, around conferences and when doing keynotes. I’ve blogged about e-ink before and did a presentation around the future of the newspaper. [...]
