Recession
One of the most talked about topics in the world right now are the economic recession. The world economy has had a lot of years of growth and as with every other financial cycle, it had to end at some time and here we are: Looking forward to a couple of years were the economy will not be as good as we have been used to for a while.
Globally people are more or less panicking, but at least some people seems to remain calm (in Danish only).
That is all very good, but what everybody off-course wants to know is how to deal with it. Christian has already written about what to do with innovation when recession hits, but another aspect is how you can use social media to be better prepared for the downturn. The very popular social media blogger Chris Brogan has come up with 25 ways social media prepares you for the downturn.
Some of the advice he gives is to:
- Google yourself and see what shows up. If it is not what you WANT to have show up start building up a main site, and pointing to it using outposts
- Build conversational relationships with other business people in similar roles at other organizations on Facebook, on LinkedIn, and elsewhere AHEAD of needing the job.
- Shift your existing pricing with the current economy in mind: shorter terms, different payment options, one time deferred first payment, etc.
But take a look at the full list. There is a chance that at least some of the advice are relevant to your situation.
