New trend in logodesign – algebra?

Body

Logoorange recently published a list of logo designtrends of 2008, and what they write is totally spot on.

These things really does seem to be the most predominant trends in logodesign right now – delicate curves, shiny surfaces, gradients, faux 3D appearances, transparent layers and so on. The list of new/redesigned logos that employ these things seems endless.

Yesterday I stumbled upon (via the CR-blog ) THIS site, which puts a very funny perspective to all of this. The images featured on that site, are visualisations of algebraic equations, and the style fits just perfectly into what seems to be the biggest trends in logodesign these days. Who would have thought that math-geeks were to become trendsetters in graphic design?

I’m not going to judge whether these new trends in logodesign are good or bad. Obviously a lot of people think it’s cool, and that’s fine by me. Personally though, I hope it’s a fad that will quickly disappear.

Here are a few examples, and if you are in doubt – it’s the real logos to the left.

But, hey – you’ll now be able to transmit a fully described graphical logo through SMS on a mobile phone by just writing down the formula – how cool!
;-)

HAHA – yeah, I never really thought about it that way. Just forget everything I wrote then;).

…Nah… not really.
