Maria Schwarz

At Seismonaut Maria works within the area of experience design and the engagement of people in a participatory innovation process. When she is not at the office working on research designs and methods she is probably out in the world equipped with her camera on the hunt for real life insights.

Professional Background

Maria has a diverse background and holds wide-ranging experiences in different areas. One of these is theatre; both in drama teaching and as a performing actor.

She has actively merged these skills with design and used them both in experience design and in the development of user centered research methods.

Her academic background is a BA from the University of Aarhus, Denmark, in Aesthetics & Culture as well as Design & Design Processes. Further more she has completed courses in Experience Economy (Aarhus University), and is finishing her MA in Innovation Management, at Central Saint Martins College in London.

Projects

Maria has worked on several projects,  among which the big ones include:

Concept development for a company-driven online community.

A project with a public institution spread over 90 national locations. With a highly user centered approach, the project aims to innovate the sharing of knowledge in and between the different departments.

Currently she is working on a research project which deals with innovation of social impact and how to reach this through a democratic and people centered participatory approach. This research project is part of her final thesis at Central Saint Martins in London.

During Off-hours

Maria treasure hunts, improvises, maps stuff, travels, snorkels and often hunts for insights and quirky details, which she catches with her camera.
