The Danish Government commissioned Seismonaut to participate in a study of user-centered innovation in the food industry.
The food processing industry in Denmark accounts for more than 10% of the export. However, it is an industry under pressure from globalization. Innovation is required to strengthen the market position. To facilitate innovation and improve collaboration between the industry and research institutions, an industry-driven knowledge and innovation centre was been proposed. In order to benchmark the potential for such a centre Seismonaut was asked to map current best practice in the industry and analyze demand for such a centre.
Throughout the autumn of 2007 Seismonaut carried out interviews with selected Danish and international food companies including Danish Crown and Lantmännen Unibake. We also met with nationwide research institutions in order to compile a report to a steering committee for the centre initiative. The report included include findings, a gap analysis and recommendations for a possible centre.
