48 Hours in Denmark: Lead Users in Tourism 2.0

The 48 Hours in Denmark-concept was created to gain insight in to the habits of lead users in the field of digital tourism. By addressing them via their platforms of choice, and then by observing how they actually used them in a real life scenario, it became possible to develope an idea of what the future of an industry might look like.

Shanghai Innovation

In May 2009 the Central Denmark Region (CDR) and the Science and Technology Commision of Shanghai signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen the scientific cooperation between Shanghai and CDR. To mark the signing of theMoU the administration asked us to orchestra a joint ideation process.

House of Architecture, New Technology and Design

In June 2009 The Mayor’s Office in Aarhus took the first steps towards a possible House of Architecture and Design (Arkitektur, Ny teknologi og Design = AND huset) Seismonaut contributed to the official report published by a think tank chaired by the Mayor, Nicolai Wammen. The report outlines opportunities and requirements for a future initiative, which may become an international icon.

Aarhus in 2037

How will the city of Aarhus look in year 2037? That question is what a cross disciplinary think tank has been working with for two years. For the final workshop the client, the Department of Business and City Development, wanted a structured creative process in order for the participants to come up with visionary and innovative ideas about the city’s infrastructure, settlement and education.

24-hour Ideation Process

Seismonaut developed and facilitated a 24-hour ideation process, where more than 50 prominent decision makers in the areas of design, architecture and construction, as well as politicians and the Mayor of Aarhus Nicolai Wammen, were encouraged to come up with new and visionary ideas for the development of Aarhus as an influential creative city.

New Media Network

In the spring of 2007 a consortium consisting of the Municipality of Århus, the Alexandra Institute and the Central Region Denmark began the preliminary work to establish a network aimed at business and research professionals working within the field of media and communication.

The steering committee wanted the network to focus on the fast growing field of new media. To map the readiness of media companies, communications companies and other relevant businesses and research institutions Seismonaut was asked to take on the task of assessing the possibilities for a new media network in the Central Denmark Region.

Seismonaut has created a personalized experience at VisitAarhus’s pavilion at a B2B expo in the business tourist industry. The experience increased the number of touch points VisitAarhus had with its visitors and engaged people in a new way.

Future Health Care Scenarios

By 2020 the New Aarhus University Hospital will be completed in a northern suburb of Aarhus, Denmark. Seismonaut joined the consortium Curavita led by Arkitema to produce a proposal for delivering the blueprints. Our primary task was to develop a method for evaluating new technologies and to develop possible future scenarios for user-oriented applications based on IT and new technologies. All of the scenario topics were aiming at optimizing patient comfort as well as hospital operations.

Film and New Media

At a national, regional and local level there is presently a strong political will to back initiatives that fall within the field of experience economy. One such initiative has been taken by the Central Denmark Region and Northern Denmark Region. Acknowledging that there is a large creative potential within the fields of film, new media and game design in the two regions, an executive committee was set up with representatives from the political system and a number of external advisers including Seismonaut. The committee was given the authority to work out a strategy that can support and grow this field.
